Post that is designated to stay at the top of the first page of the board is a sticky. If you check the top, you will see 4-6 posts that have an emblem by them that is different from regular threads. It keeps the thread (stuck if you will) at the top keeping it in view to all.

Now we return to our regular programming.

Due to Ike, we (actually Capt. Aleve) are watching water levels and releases for the float trips this weekend. We are still planning float trips but watch message board for possible changes to times and verify locations, whether it's Caddo or Remmel to Rockport!
It's still going to be FUN!

Looks like lot of rain for the weekend. What are the plans if we get so much rain on Sat. and Sun. keeping us from outdoor activities? I know I am crazy thinking I might get wet :poke:

No problem. Our flatwater and touring folks will just move their venue to the field out by the swimming pool, so they won't have to carry their boats as far, and the whitewater folks can run the flow that runs off down the ditch toward Lake Catherine.

In the southeast part of Lake Catherine State Park is a creek named Falls Creek. It spits out into the lake via a 15' or so fall. There's always a catch and this time it is that the pool is pretty shallow. It will be especially shallow now with the lake being drawn down. Of course, the rain will fill the lake to a higher than normal level ........

Joe if you drive into the park you will find a trail head. this trail goes right by the drop. Its a great hike and a good way to scout before you paddle through the lake or carry your boat to it! I would say it is only about ten fooot but it is runnable, i am guessing if there was enough water in the creek the pool would be filled enough :D you may have to use a good boof

Wow...you guys were right..what a great little gem right there so close to Rendevous. Big thanks to those that let me in on this. I plan on becoming more frequent a visitor to the park now, esp. during thunderstorms. I checked it out yesterday..it wouldve been more like an assisted seal launch at that level. Anyway...I came back today after I got back to couchdale and everyone else had hauled off to run other stuff. I had to go back home instead of boat today, but I made it a point to paddle the lake route back to the falls..and this time it was a much better scenario. Still a bit bony..but definately runnable. The first part is about 6-7 feet off vertical, then about 8 feet drop into the pool below..which was good everytime I ran the drop. I took a couple different lines..barely touched bottom once under the falls..other than that it was all good. A very good ending to the weekend considering I had to go home right after the park and huck.
Some visitors were kind enough to film some for me...and they got a kick out of watching. The kids with them enjoyed it too. All in all, a great finish to a really fun weekend. It was the only time I spent in my baot this weekend...but it was good time, and it was fantastic getting to see everyone and hang out.
And as far as the saturday night shenanigans, well those were more than entertaining too. I hope to have flashbacks.
Thanks to my surrogate family at OOO for letting me squat with them this weekend. You guys and girls are just the best ever.
Hope everyone is enjoying the water today and keeping safe. Great halftime show from Oriana in the film hall as well, that was alot of fun, as were the other videos.
Take care,
Joe
