Town Branch Cleanup September 6th

Post by Half Ton » Wed Aug 27, 2014 12:53 pm

Town Branch watershed in Fayetteville is absolutely trashed. 5 cleanups in this watershed this year have not removed most of the trash. Hopefully the 6th will do the trick. To participate, show up at Walker Park in Fayetteville on Saturday September 6th around 9:00 am and volunteers will spread out across this urban watershed to be heros of water quality and wildlife by removing at least one ton of trash from this stream.

Participants will have an opportunity to take a survey about the types of trash they found and what brand they were spawned from. This information will help track down the source of the pollution and address it at the source.

Door prizes and food for volunteers

Thanks to everyone for coming out and helping! We made some major progress today, but still have a ways to go to get it cleaned up on down to the west fork of the white. I will post up more info when the details are all in.

Those great trash grabbers that were provided by the city of Fayetteville are called "arcmate King Tongs". Available at arcmate.com for around 25 bucks. The best ones I've seen , for sure.-M-
