Lower Richland video edit 4/19 Open boats & Yaks

Post by perspective7 » Thu Apr 25, 2013 8:27 pm

3 open boats and three yaks down lower Richland at three feet. Nice sunny day to be on the river with lots of swims! The open boaters wouldn't listen to me about the lines so they had a few spills :poke2:

Sweet Video. Can I get a copy of this from you? I will be in Springfield this weekend and I can bring down a blank DVD.

Great video and paddling. You do a great job framing the video while keeping your craft on a good line. Looks like only you and the Dagger avoided a swim, unless that was edited out. It was fun watching the boats take that line on river left on that one rapid and swim on those rocks. Love the music too, especially the pixies. I have never done lower richland, but am dying to do so. thanks for sharing. John

That's the line I warned them not to take at that level...there is a nice pin spot in front of the rock on that side. Just the two canoes swam there. I ran down quick to get video and now I'm thinking it would have been better to let them follow me down..not that they would have taken my line  The best line straight through is where the green Dagger went down. I've been hitting the small boof to the eddy behind the rock just for something different. At 4ft+ that spot is just two big holes back to back...good times!

Seth, way to turn class II-III into class IV, good choice of music. Kudos to those that share their videos on this forum, everybody keeps getting better with each new video. You're leaving less room for those trying to make money off of whitewater videos. Keep posting. BOB

Great video, thanks for sharing.

FYI Where the River flows is by Collective Soul, not Pearl Jam.

Huh, thanks Kru. I knew that but I guess I need too proofread before I render. By the time I get to the credits I'm about to have an aneurysm :wht: Where is my mind, where is my mind - way out in the water, see it swimming...

I don't edit out swims..even my own.

Yeah, I haven't been on the upper yet this year...for one reason or another I end up on the lower usually because of levels or I'm with newer boaters not ready for the top. Lower Richland is getting boring since I've ran about every line and have found the best ones which I now take every time...but it's better than not being on the water at all! I need to follow you guys down at 5ft so I can try out Twin Devils falls :yahoo:

Sure thing Seth
Give me a call next time it's running during the week and I'll take you down.
Around 4 ft is good first level.. Preferably on warm day. That level, rapids are padded and not pushy.
5 ft and above, lines open up and are easier on some of them but starts getting pushy. Hope to hear from you soon.
