Canoe seats

Does anyone know if I will be facing any problems trying to replace my seats in my Pelican canoe with aftermarket seats. My concern is the stiffing bar that runs me the length of the canoe under the seats. With the aftermarket seats there will be nothing to hold it in place. Will it make much of a difference not to have this bar in the canoe?

I would say you really need the stiffening bar.
