Looking for one of the old rotomolded Bob Foote canoe seat
I got one of these things from Bob when he lived in the Tulsa area.
And, used it a long time in my OCA.
got into kayaks and sold the OCA and that seat was part of the deal.
Now have a well used but still works, Sunburst II with the original carved foam seat.
Would love to find one of Bob's seats at a reasonable price to use in the Sunburst II.
Just using the canoe on trips like the Buffalo and the ability to slide back on top of the Foote seat during the flats would be great for my over the hill knees.

Back to the beginning, eh... displacement hulls are back to being all the rage, at least for us old-style boaters. Good luck on your search! Crane

Re: Looking for one of the old rotomolded Bob Foote canoe seat
Funny how things come full circle if one lets them.
Actually, the beginning was a beat up Ouchita, a beat up standard Grumman, a 15 ft Grumman shoe keel (the hot solo boat in those days) and a black OCA ended up with a ME which was an awesome boat in its day.
Found the Sunburst with it's original owner. Has the original outfitting which I restored. Took the Sunburst down the Buffalo and had a ball.
Only problem is my legs cramp big time on the long flats. Remembered the old Foote Rotomolded had that ledge on the back to set on and good storage.
Way to stiff these days to do much more than Mulberry etc but a beat up creeker may well have found a well used old warhorse of a canoe that still needs to be on the water.

I used to have one of these. Probably just as hard to find. Has a screw-on dry-storage hatch in the front.
Or you might have to start doing what the C-1'ers do...watching TV from a kneeling position instead of from the easy chair.

That is the same basic design as I remember the Bob Foote setup.
Did you get it from Bob or I wonder if he sold the thing to another company?
on closer examination, Bob's version attached by glued in D ring patches and it looks like this version uses the top cross bars.
Both designs would work for me

I have one of those Perception saddles in the basement that I will long term loan you. Don't expect to have any use of it in the next several years with my knee and neck being what they aren't.
Come over and we can install it on a Friday night before paddleing a Buffalo trip.
Just helped put new gunnels on the Genesis for Mary with Lewis at Two Brothers Canoe in Avoca this morning. We are going with a Seat and Pedestal combnation for her solo boat, so she can have both.

WOW, that is just what I need. Those deals are more or less special setups now with all the fancy options out there. I think they work great when you need to paddle the flats a lot.
I remember in the day they first came out, I thought they were about as good as it got.
sent you a PM
If I can find one somewhere else that I can pick up, we will have two in the reserve storage!

Okie, I used to have one of those many moons ago. Sold it long ago after transitioning to kayak, but found that photo on the interwebs.

Dave, I have a Perception saddle in my old Whitesell that you can have. The boat itself is pretty much shot for any serious paddling.
