"While kayaking in Cali and safety boating in Colorado, Czech and US couple Jakub Nemec and Meg Smith created the aesthetic design"
Noel Parker met Jakub when he was helping safety boat for the pinecreek/numbers raft race, then he talked with them for a while at the after party. Later in the summer we missed our takeout after doing granite to numbers and got a ride from Meg and the rafting company she worked at. After they dropped us off we headed up to their out post and talked to Jakub about Lake Creek, memorable quote "just put on, its good to go". This guy runs the left line on the new paralyzer rapid, which is hands down the most impressive terrifying drop I have ever seen, it is huge. He said it was his day off and he wasn't kayaking, so we headed out to scout it (it wasn't at all good to go). Heres where the story sidetrack. I ended up convincing Noel the water was to low on Lake Creek (which ended up being true), and we headed to Eleven Mile because the gauge said it was at twice the level we had previously run it, but it lied. From there we had two days of Baileys. Now neither Noel or myself had done this run, but countless people told me if there was any run I did in Colorado, it had to be Bailey (Ryan C, Matt, and Fish come to mind) . We got on really late, and had a blast, when we got to the takeout there was free food and beer. That is how incredible this run is people. We had stumbled upon the first ever Bailey Fest (and first recreational release). Then we camped out with them and did the run again the next day. It was a really incredible way to end a rafting season. I wish I could do that year around. Sorry for the side story- The End.
