Ruby-Horsethief-Westwater canyons trip August 23-27:
I have a Colorado River BLM permit and trip through Ruby-Horsethief-Westwater canyons going August 23-27. Also have rides from the KC area available. Have 3 rafts & a full contingent of kayakers going right now. We could use a couple more rafts. Dave Reid and I have done numerous multi-day Westwater trips over the years in case you need another opinion. I'm adding 2 more upstream canyons and some awesome side canyon hiking to the trip. Westwater Canyon - Class IV.
Drop me a line if you are interested.

Re: Ruby-Horsethief-Westwater canyons trip - 2 raft spots open
I had a recent PM that suggested more details. Here is some more trip info:
Trip Itinerary:
ITINERARY:
Rig Day - Sunday
Day 1: Monday morning, August 23rd. - Fruita State Park & boat launch on the Colorado River, west of Grand Junction, CO. Rig, float Ruby & Horsethief Canyons (Class I-II) & camp at Mee Canyon.
Day 2: Tuesday - layover & hike day
Day 3: Wednesday - float down to Westwater BLM access.
Day 4: Thursday, August 26th - Run Westwater (Class IV); Camp at lower end - Bald Eagle or other camp option
Day 5: Friday - row out to take-out (Cisco); drive back to my Salida, CO home to unload my gear; dump porta-potti
Saturday - back to home
The 3 rafters, including me, already have the group equipment and BLM requirements settled. The trip fees are shared, like most permitted trips. Total trip fees, BLM permit fees, & food will likely be less than $100/person for the 5 days. Travel is on our own, of course.
The water level will be pretty friendly, in the 3,000cfs range. I've run Westwater at levels from 2,000-14,000cfs. 3-4k is very friendly. The hikes will be easy too.
Hope this might intrigue some strong Class IV rafters.
