I'm thinking of doing the Illinois Bayou from the snow creek put in if the level is high enough. I've not been on that section before and I know you have to watch for strainers. Has anyone been on it lately to know its condition? Thanks

East Fork of Cadron this weekend
I am thinking of doing the 10 mile trip from Hwy 36 (near Rose Bud) to the bridge north of Barney on the East Fork of the Cadron this weekend. IT is a about a half hour north of Conway. Right now the water is too high (9.3) but it will come down. 4-6 feet is nice. You can read about this section of ...

Re: Crossover Kayaks...? Opinions?
I have two Remix XP-9 and two Approach 10. My wife and i love the LL for comfort, storage, and helping to keep you afloat when you don't do the rapid correctly. I've done the Kossatot with mine and it was fine. The Approach is good but does not handle as well as the XP and I prefer both the mechanis...

Re: Cadron Sunday 1/29 11 a.m. under the bridge
I would like to go if you are ending the trip at the 65 bridge. I have a small trailer to haul four or more kayaks at once. I'm from Conway. Is the plan to meet at 11:00 at the 65 bridge?

Re: East Fork Cadron
It is an 8 ½ mile trip and is prettier with higher bluffs than the North Fork. the water last week was very clear though after a rain it is muddy. There are at least three sections where you have to paddle between tupelo trees with bluffs on one side. I tried to attach a picture but am not sure how ...

East Fork Cadron
Three of my kids were home for a visit so we went on the East Fork of the Cadron from hwy 36 to Barney new years eve. The gauge on the North Fork was 3.5 so the flow was good but not pushy. It took us 4 hours with a half hour stop for a snack. We only had to get out about 4 times to go around trees ...

Thank you, half ton, for your concerns. However, I believe you are reading too much into my comments.

East Fork Cadron clean up
As the Arkansas river guide says, the East Fork of the Cadron from Hwy 36 to 107 is more scenic than the North Fork. The bluffs while paddling through the tupelo trees is so beautiful. When the water level is between 4-5 feet the rapids are great and the waves are a blast. It is a more intimate stre...

Big Piney at helton's
Is anyone going to do the Helton's farm run on the Big Piney tomorrow, Sunday? We are considering it and could share a shuttle from Moore's Outdoors.

Have you established a time to meet Sunday at the 65 bridge? My wife, daughter and I are considering doing that tomorrow.

Re: Gas lines across the East Cadron
Both of the pipes were black pipe about 8-10 inches in diameter. It came from on top of the ground across the river and back on top of the ground. I could not tell if the pipe was in sections or not.

Re: Gas lines across the East Cadron
Robert, It is one of my favorite trips. Next time I go I will make an announcement to see if more would to go. I like it much better than the North Fork. There are several trees down across the river that need to be cut up. Last summer I cleared three miles of the river but need to do the whole thin...

Gas lines across the East Cadron
I paddled the East Fork of the Cadron from Hwy 36 to the bridge by Barney and there were two natural gas pipe lines across the river. One was tied up to some trees so we could pass under it near the shore. The other one was lower and we had to get up enough speed to get over it. Does anyone know if ...

Re: Looking for kayak
We have a Dagger Approach 9 foot. - River/Whitewater Crossover Combo This is a great little kayak if you love both river trips and running rapids. With the skeg (rudder) down it tracks really well on the straight water, then when you come to some rapids, put up the skeg and it becomes a great fun pl...
