Is anyone else in here itching for some whitewater sometime soon?
I am getting bored with little to no rain. Just thought I'd see how everyone else is feeling!

You blinked and the water was gone! I didn't get any either, if that makes you feel any better. I was acting responsible or something like that.

Summer of 2008 was a great ww season. I have never paddled Sugar creek twice in the summer.

The Tot running 5 days in August... very unusual!

I have not looked but I know that this August has to be in the top 5 for rainfall totals in the last 50 years in western AR.

it has been wet, but I haven't seen enough water in a creek or anything, especially up here in NWA, to shake a stick at. I wish I'd have tackled the Tot, despite my intermediate WW solo boat skills. It would have been OK to dump I guess.

In 4 years of paddling ww in Arkansas, this is the first year I've ever gotten to hit a river during the month of August. Check out the August synoposis at link below - 200 to 400% above normal rainfall through Aug 20 for the month. I got to paddle the Upper Little Missouri, Lower Little Missouri, and the Cossatot ALL IN AUGUST, and Cadron Creek has been running for a full week now! Unbelievable!!!

Me thinks that when the rain gods smile on Arkansas like this in August, it be best not to complain! :poke:

On the other hand, I'm starting to think it's normal to paddle in shorts and short sleeves, and that's just bizarre for Arkansas! It'll make it hard to pull all that wool and fleece on when the paddling season REALLY starts!

What's been running might not be in NW Arkansas, but it's a whole lot closer than driving East to the Ocoee or Nantahala!!!

Lee Cr. ran a few days too. Frog too. And Big Piney went off too. I think Richland even made minimum once.

Best August I can remember in the last ten years. If you're venting this year, you're in for quite an ugly surprise when we get a "normal" year. :-)

Good water base going into the Oct-Nov season. I'm hoping for some big creek runs then. If not, Tallulah will be calling...
