The Caddo is a neat little class I & II river with lots of different runs on it. I learned how to paddle there. There's plenty of fishing and enough rapids to make anybody happy!
go here ...
http://water.usgs.gov/waterwatch/?m=real&r=ar
to check the level but if you run it at less than 5 1/2 feet (that's barely the limit) you'll be boofing rocks all day.
A good run is from Glenwood to Caddo Gap, I think it is about 8 miles. Put in is the new AGFC ramp just inside Glenwood off of route 70 behind the cemetary (on the right). That is also a nice short Shuttle.
There's also a run starting upstream from Glenwood and that one is 5 miles.
The person you need to talk to about the Caddo is Jim Krueger, who I call Caddo Boy. He's been paddling this river for 30+ years.
Here's a link to the outfitter and shuttle service. You can also camp under the highway at Glenwood.

I've felt the touch of healing hands, neath the willow trees and birch, cause the water's my religion, and the river is my church. Kenny

It should be Glenwood to Amity at the 182 bridge, caddo gap is upstream from Glenwood. This float is actually almost 8 miles.Paddlegal wrote: if you run it at less than 5 1/2 feet (that's barely the limit) you'll be boofing rocks all day.

Upstream from glenwood at arrowhead down to glenwood is 7.5 miles.
At 5 1/2 feet to 5 feet I recomend Amity Hwy 182 to Amity Hwy 84 this float is 4.5 miles

Re: Caddo?
Connie, Connie, Connie, I'm gonna make you drive the truck to the put-in from Glenwood more often. :) I remember one of my teachers having me write something a hundred times, can't remember what, but was probably "I will not misbehave"...
Brad, the Caddo is a very fun river, especially when the water is good, and the Caddo can hold a good level overall. At present, it's falling a little low again, as it is known for this time of year. Some of the lower stretches may be OK this weekend.
Connie, and Lifejacket are both very familiar with the river, I hope one of us will have the opportunity to meet you there sometime.
Best Regards
Jim

Hey Connie,
We were talking about you yesterday. Your ears burning? Anyway, when you coming along for a paddle? That new grandbaby keeping you busy?
