Buff Point to Rush questions......
Buff Point to Rush questions......
been many many years since I've paddled that section. Thinking about taking the she-cat and duaghter up to mess around. Can anybody tell me about the shuttle roads....specifically about distance by road from Rush back to Buff Point....more specifically about riding this on my mtn bike. I'm a biker...so uphills don't bother me....just needing to know how many miles up hill from Rush back up to the top so I can figger the time it will take.
Re: Buff Point to Rush questions......
Tommy, the road into Rush is paved except for the last 1-2miles (maybe less). From Rush (proper) to 14 is about 3 miles. Add a little to get past Rush to river.
Overall distance (one way) according to state highway map marks about 16 miles. Ten of that is on highway 14.
Remember this information is worth what you paid for it! NADA!

Re: Buff Point to Rush questions......
so....it's all uphill for three miles?....hit hwy 14 and back to Buff Point for another 13 miles? If I remember correctly....it's not too hilly once I get to hwy 14 and mostly downhill for a few miles into Buff Point? I should be able to ride that in about an hour on a mtn bike.
Re: Buff Point to Rush questions......
Naw, sorry. the hill comes before Rush and drops to the valley. Length of hill can't be more that .75 miles (plus/minus)!
First part going is rolling, more or less. Followed by hill, then a flatter section.

Re: Buff Point to Rush questions......
But the hill at Rush is at least a 60 degree grade, if not more, just consider that.

I traced the route using gmap. I like using the hybrid version so you see roads and terrain both. This tool gives you not only the distance, but also can give you a graph to show how the elevation changes. I have ridden the shuttle starting at Rush, but peddled back to N. Maumee for a two day river trip. Hate the idea of getting out on Hiway 14. Going to N. Maumee meant just half a mile on 14.. The hill coming out of Rush is a booger!!! Unfortunately the shuttle to N. Maumee involves going way down into a tributary (Water Cr. ?) and then back out again. Play around with the gmap-pedometer. You can even trace down the river to check trip lengths. Great tool for bikers and runners. Cal
