Tom Burroughs and Stephanie Crawley's wedding TOMORROW

I'd allow a few extra minutes drive time if you are driving in to the wedding tomorrow. The road is VERY dusty from the Bugscuffle Cemetary where the pavement ends to Pierson Road (CR276). I went in today to help set up the cooking arrangements and drop off a few things and I had to stop to let the dust clear a few minutes after some power company trucks went through ahead of me.

They are cooking almost as much as we cooked for Rendevous last fall, but Tom might have underestimated the fluid consumption demands in this heat. I better start on water and try to stick with it while cooking the meat and fowl. For those who have high fluid repletishment requirements, you might want to bring a cooler with you, just in case I get thirsty cooking and do not stick with water.

First rule of cooking is to baste the cook!

It was a joy meeting Tom's father today, and Stephanie's folks and brother are also very nice. The Crawley's have a beautiful farm. I'm looking forward to seeing them on the river sometime in Tom's raft.

Man, I ended up having to miss the wedding! I'd have loved to have been there - Bug Scuffle is a great neck of the woods, and it couldn't be two finer folks tying the knot. Hope it all went really well for you guys, Tom, and I hope you're having a splendiferous honeymoon!

It is spelled BUGSCUFFLE on the road signs, mailboxes, and on the embroidered cook's apron Tom had made up for me to commemorate the event. Thank you Tom and Stephanie for allowing me to participate. I had a great time and I WILL wear the apron in cooler temperatures.

And for the record, Tom and the Crawleys did not run out of anything to consume, solid or liquid. There were still two coolers of cold beer and some soft drinks left when I drove back this morning to sort out and load up all of my gear.

It was an event to remember. Steve did a great job as the person joining them, and so did all of the family and friends who worked out all the details for the party and ceremony. Tom and Stephanie know a lot of folks from all walks of life and locations, but the ACC was well represented. Saw Amos Turnipseed and his wife, Arthur Bowie and his wife, Roger Keesee, Gretchen, Stephan, Joe and Melanie Purdy and several others, but I was so wiped from the 105F heat of the afternoon that I had to leave about 10:30PM when the party was just getting going. Wish I could have stayed to listen to more of that music and just sit down. It was a wild day.
