For those of us that couldn't make it, we'd still like to read about your Surf & Turf stories!

Great event! Definitely worth the 8-hour road trip from Austin. Thanks to Jim for providing the shuttle.

Surf&Turf was just Great! Marlo and I really enjoyed ourselves! It's always a particular pleasure for me to get to meet and visit with folks from out of state and also the further reaches of the state whom I've not met before. I appreciate all of you for your efforts to come!
Of course seeing all my paddling friends is the biggest treat!

Many thanks to Kim Tucker for organizing the Surf&Turf again this year!
I have always enjoyed the food but I must say it was simply delicious yesterday!! I think those were the best hamburgers I've had over the years, a little thicker and juicier, "they was fine :) " Leigh, that was some very nice lettuce, and equal accolades for those bringing the nice tomatoes, onions and side dishes, fine, fine, fine! I had a brief moment of lethargy after eating :D but quickly moved on to the floating, and that cool water.

So nice to see everyone yesterday, and like so many outings, I always enjoy it when I'm back home sitting on the porch, refreshed, and reflecting on the good times!

Best Regards
Jim

I have to say, as a newbie, that I had a great time. Got more than just a little frustrated trying to work out the nuances of ferrying, but all in all it was a wonderful experience. The food was great, the weather was great (once I took a couple of swims :D ) and the people I met were terrific!

A special thanks to Heather, Bibbs, Cowper, Brian and Scott for letting me borrow gear! I would have been swimming a whole lot more if it weren't for you guys! And a super-duper special thanks to Heather for taking the time to teach while you could have been playing. If it weren't for you, I probably wouldn't have had the guts to get out there!

Awesome time!

Kim always does a great job with anything she organizes, no matter how difficult. Just imagine trying to wrangle Walter Felton, Marcel Jones and Dee Tucker!! And, they did a really fine job of cooking burgers and dogs! Thanks to all who helped make it another great ACC event!

As hard as it was to sit on the sidelines, due to my recent neck surgery, I had a wonderful time! This is only my second event to attend and I just can't get over what a great group of people I've met. I met so many more new folks yesterday (and missed a couple that I'd hoped to meet) I know I won't remember all their names. It was also great to meet folks I had conversed with on the forum.
The food was great! Kudos to Kim for pulling off a great event, as well as to all of those that helped.
Hope to see everyone again at the Rendezvous, and hopefully I'll be ready to hit the water by then!

Mindy and I had a great time. This being our first ACC event, we really regret not going to any in the past few years. We didn't spend very much time in the water--but we had a blast just visiting and meeting with everyone.
Those peaches and brownies were awesome...
Big thanks to Jeremy and the guys at OOO for helping us out and letting us demo some boats. We'll get back up their and pick those boats up as soon as I can move one or both of the ones we own.
Speaking of OOO, thanks for the kick-booty after party. The  was foamy but cold and refreshing...the music was great as well (REO Speedwagon and Sesame Street still stuck in my head). I hate that we had to jet so early, but we were beat after the heat and the paddling. We're definitely getting back up their before summer is gone.

thank you everyone for such a welcoming event!

Yes sir it was well done again. It's good to see all the old farts and see what's doin' with the younger crowd! A BIG, BIG THANK YOU to Kim Tucker, Marcel Jones, "you're going to come to a bad end" Dee Tucker, Jim Kruger and all the folks that brought food, brought drinks, helped clean up and haul trash, and anything else that made it well worth driving in for.

Special thanks to Walter and Gayle Felton for bringing up the grill and doing the grillin' with Dee and Marcel.

Also thanks to Don, Jeremy and the OOO group for once again letting folks drink and play at the store.

The funniest part was staying late on saturday to help cowper put up his raft. When we got over to the boat ramp from porterfields, cowper had several young boys in the big green raft and was headed up stream. "These kids were interested in a ride, and I got them in since i was waiting for debbie," he said. All the kids had on life jackets and were putting on new found helmets as he rowed them up stream.

The kid's mom's were standing near the boat ramp looking at Roy and I with a small bit of apprehension. "you guys know him, don't you?" she asked a bit nervously. We chuckled and said "yeah, we know him and he's got some experience, but you have to understand he's a big kid too, and if they aren't getting their money's worth he'll throw them in or something to make sure they're having fun." "They're just going up to the ledge to surf the hole a bit." In the distance we saw them eddy out river right in front of the hole and then row in. The back of the raft popped way up as the front bore down into the hole. We walked up the side walk to get a better view and saw that all the kids had big grins as they were bobbing up and down with water coming over the raft's bow. When they were done and back near the eddy, a couple kids jumped over and into to water to swim to shore. All of them seemed to have had the time of their lives, and the few who couldn't go were sorely disappointed as they knew they missed a great ride. I think Cowper may have started the spark for a few future boaters!

Again, a great time and thanks to all who came!

Thank you to Kim for her time and all the others who gave their time and effort for a great day of fun. Enjoyed meeting more new folks and visiting with ones I knew.

The raft ride and surfing was so much fun and thanks to Cowper for the great ride. That is the closest to surfing I will get at the ledge I guess til I someday get my roll and learn to surf calmer waters first. I never laughed  so much.

Those that didn't go yesterday sure missed a great time. Hope those of you can make it to rendezvous.

As always, Kim and the Central Chapter put on a great event. The burgers were excellent and the water both refreshing and exhillirating. It was great to see everone and catch up. Big thanks to everyone who helps make this an event to look forward to every year.

Big thanks as well to OOO for putting on another killer after-surf party. Sweet live music and more good times catching up.

Got the sprayskirt, and a hat. Both were on the ground by the tree on the Porterfield's side, after almost everyone had left, and the few I talked to said it wasn't theirs.... Send me a PM and we'll figure the best way to get it back to you. Let me know if the hat is not yours too.

Just adding my ditto on all the thanks for the Good Grub. And Walter just looks so good in an apron (ironic that he's so comfortable in an apron, yet shies away from a skirt, isn't it?) :poke:

Sorry I missed you Leigh - in all likelihood, we probably walked past each other at some point during the day...oh well, we'll have to try again at the 'Vous.

What a wonderful fun day in the sun!

Cheers,
Heather aka Lupe
