Spring River Saturday 5/24/08

Well, some of us are thinking this Memorial Day weekend would be a good time to catch some of the 2008 Spring River excitement. There should be fun all the way down from Dam #3, some nice scenery, and of course some action at the newly installed dancing pole. Take out would be at Spring River Oaks, and dinner at the Mexican or BBQ restaurant in Hardy.
Conway area folks could meet at the Exxon in Conway at 7:30, and head out toward the Batesville Exxon, arriving about 9:15, and then on to Spring River Oaks, arriving about 10:30. With a little luck, we'd be on the water by 11:30. Little Rock folks could hook up at the I-430/630 parking lot, and go up from there.
You'd wanna bring plenty of water, sunscreen, film or camera memory, and other essentials.
Hollar up on here if you intend to go, so we'll be sure we'll have enough to make the trip and shuttle up.

Chester, do you know what the level is like there at present?
Gary and I will probably come along too. Been looking forward to the Spring again since last year.

Karla here is the link to the AW page,

http://www.americanwhitewater.org/conte ... ail_id_106_" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The level is a very nice one, never been on it at this level. I would imagine that it will not only make the pools a bit shorter but probably add a bit more carnage to watch, nothing serious though. AW has it listed as a good medium level, it will be a good weekend I imagine.

Chester i'll be thinkin about ya while we are on any combination of the following rivers this weekend. Nantahala, Dirty Bird..aka Pigeon, Chattooga, Tellico and/or Ocoee. Then again your are not going to be driving 1500 or so miles.

Take some pictures!

Karla, the water level should be no problem for ya'll two, but could prove interesting for those renters with little boat control skills. And the liveries are renting everything they have for the holiday weekend.
Scott, yea, 1500 miles equals $300 minimum in my SUV, but I know you have fun too. So go and enjoy, and relax, cause I will take you a few landscapes.

Chester,
I was asking about the level because I just didn't want it to be low. Hate dragging on rocks that much. Looking forward to it. Hope more is going along. Seems that will be the only thing running.

I will let Gary carry the Camera this time, he will be more interested in shooting the landscapes.

Any campgrounds or forest land for camping in the area that won't be chock full?

Susan,
Beads? Moi? I loaned some beads I had last time I was up there, and never got um back. So guess I'll just have keep a low profile and just watch for good pic opportunities.

Karla,
I heard Cassidee from LR is going, one or two from up here, and one or two from out of state will meet us up there. Will know more about route from here and where to meet later, and/or will call ya'll that am from the Exxon.

Minna,
Great to have you, I PM'd ya with some details.

CapnTom,
Most places I know up there will probably be packed, but may have some spots for ya. I'd call ahead now.

Great day on the Spring River. We had a higher water level than I've paddle before, and it made for some interesting carnage. :hammer: Also, the crowd was larger than I've ever seen too, so I got lots of video, although some of it I can't post.
Afterwards it was Mexican at Cozemels in Hardy.
