Anyone tried one of these? It looks like it would be a good boat to introduce someone to whitewater. I wish they made a smaller version of this boat for kids.

I paddled a Torrent the weekend of April 20 on the Ouachita at the Ozark Society Bayou Chapter school. it was a blast, would turn 180 degrees with one sweep, hit one boat eddies, a lot of fun. I will be paddling it at the ACC Wgitewater school this weekend and will update, I would be very comfortable on Big Piney, Nantahala, Little Mo type rivers. Do not know about a roll.

Re: Perception Torrent
LOVE MY TORRENT!!
I paddled it two days on the Mulberry at around 3 ft May 3 - 4, then two days on upper Buffalo (Ponca) May 9 - 10. Most fun four days I've had on a river in my 25 years of paddling. It turns on a dime with a 1/2 sweep, hits one-boat eddies all day long, ferries easily, great fun on peel-outs, super stable, exceptionally comfortable. My instructor at the Mulberry surfed it forever on a big wave, and rolled it.
I had so much fun on the Buffalo. Those two days were the best, most fun I've had there, and I've probably been on that river 75 days in rental and my solo canoes.
Turner Bend on the Mulberry did have them for rent.
I cannot say enough about what a fun boat the Torrent is. You have to learn to paddle it straight but that is all about technique and will come quickly, and my instructors also mentioned several times what a "fast" boat it is.
Do yourself a favor. Go try one!!
