Hey everyone.....If no one is busy on these days, I am looking for some paddle buddies for the week after the 4th of July (5th -9th). I will be at my parents place near Mt. Harbor on Lake Ouachita. I will hit Dragover Loop of course, but if there are any other rivers near by that you know of, please let me know. I want to tackle'm all if I can. Come with me and you are alos welcome to come get some good food at the house afterwards.

Count me in. Have you ever done Fiddlers creek? Never paddled it but have hiked the trail Ouachita trail where it crosses.

Excellent!!! I got you down. I have never floated anything down there except Fouche, Mill, and Dragover. I am looking forward to hitting some new ones.
I'll be down on the 4th for the firework show, the the 5th -9th, I'm cruisin' the rivers. I'll PM you my number.

What class will the water be? Will a 12' SOT be suitable?

class I-II(+) SOT will be fine. Dragover is a short float.
Other rivers I am sure will be fine for SOT, but I'd read up a little on the classes. Caddo is fine, Fourshe is fine....I'd be skeptical of Mill creek.
Hope that helps ya a little.

Brandon,
By July 4th, it can many times be dry, and hot as the hinges here. One sure bet for a fun day for park and play, float,or combination is the Remmel Dam to Ledge float on the Ouachita R. below Lake Catherine. You can get the release information online by registering, also just ask on the board several days prior. It's a guaranteed cool place to float. Another WW treat at that time of the year are Captain Aleve's occasional weekday trips on the Little Missouri R. near Murfreesboro. Both are within handy distance to Dragover.
Best Regards

This place is hard to beat in July. No white water though. Photo by Dan Valovich.

I realize the river might be down....in fact I was thinking a kayak touring the little photo Richard shoes here. It would be awesome. I have floated Dragover in July before....lives up to its name sometimes. haha. Thanks for the input.

Richard,
I assume Buckville is on the lake map offered at Mountain Harbor or somewhere the like. I think I might tour that area.

Just checking again to see if people are floating down near Mt. Ida/Hot Springs this weekend? I will be down from the 4th thru the 6th (not the 9th anymore). Looks like chances of rain, but surely something is running.

I'm trying to lasso a friend or two to join you. I'm thinking Remmel Dam to Rockport and/or Buckville (I've been there) and/or I could do Dragover too.
Still in the works. I'll keep in touch here.
