Getting a summer vacation planned up. Anyone have a river in Costa Rica to recommend and a company to use to do it?

I worked for Ocoee Adventure Center last year and heard pretty good things about the trip they run to costa rica

I recommend you contact Jeremy Garcia Baroza with Costa Rica Adventures (costaricaadventuresATgmailDOTCOM). His website is http://www.costaricaadventures.net/ and phone number is FIVE-4-ZERO-9-ZERO-8-FIVE-TWO-ONE-4. Jeremy organized and led a trip for me and some friends, and it was great. He kept us away from tourist-y stuff, and we felt like we really got to experience the culture while enjoying some great rivers.

Regardless of your outfitter, I recommend an overnight trip on the Picuare. Also, finishing your trip with day or night of soaking in the volcanic hot springs at Tabacon Resort is perfect.

I was reading the accident reports in the latest editon of AW Magazine and saw a familar name. I thought surely this is not the same Jeremy who guided one of the best river trips I ever experienced. I did a little online research, and I was very sad to learn that if it was indeed the Jeremy I knew.

This guy was a great boater who loved life. You could not help but have fun when you were with Jeremy. He always had a huge smile. He definitely lived the "Pura Vida" motto of Costa Rica. I only had a few days with Jeremy, but I'll miss him.

If you meet a guy called Alahondro he's amazing. I paddled with him for about a month this last summer, and can say that he's the best paddling partner I've ever had. I'd pull around to his shack when I said I would, he would throw his boat and gear in, and we'd be gone just like that. Farther more I'm slightly shocked to see that the success of the paddling group "team green" has reached all the way to costa rica. Last I saw him he said he was going to do something with some legal papers, and he was always scared about having one more strike before getting exported. Havn't seen him since

As I am also planning a trip to costa rica in the summer I have looked closely at the climate issues. For virtually all of the country, the rainy season is the summer.

beware of all the "non-sense" going on down there. Mexico and Central America is pretty rough at the moment.
