1A towers on my suburban

Post by eubie » Tue Dec 18, 2007 2:14 pm

Factory rack was not high enough for my solo canoes, Yakima fit guide called for Low Riders, also not high enough to get highly rockered canoes off top of truck.

Raingutter towers, (1A) looked like they had enough height, but I had no raingutters for them. Could have used Yakima bolt top loader plates, but did not want to drill holes and pull down headliner.

Blacksmithing buddy made me 8 plates using Yakima's plates as pattern that bolt into existing holes of factory rack system, which I removed.

Made the trip to the Tot with canoe on top and to Hector (IB) with two canoes and strong crosswind on I40. Worked great.
