I've always wanted to try mountain climbing. I went to a class the other night at an outdoor store to get information about gear and stuff. I'd like to try to climb some small stuff when I go up there on kayak trips. Anyone up there climb? :)

Dude, everytime I see that Lake Charles, LA under your avatar I start getting hungry for some real cajun seafood. Think I might could get you to swing by Mulate's over in Breaux Bridge and pick me up a real seafood platter next time you head north?

My Zydeco collection is getting a little stale as well...

He doesn't have to go that far - Harris' Seafood at Hayes or the Boiling Point in Sulphur both are right up there with Mulate's.

I'm still hoping to talk him into a regular tasso & andouille run from Rabideaux's in Iowa.

Roman, where did you take lessons? Dean Padgett at the bike shop had been talking about sponsoring that kind of thing.

Quality tips there Butch, 'preciate the heads up - gonna have to check 'em out. One thing I like about Mulate's is they have a signed pic of Robert Duvall right there in the doorway when you walk in. If Robert eats there "you know it gonna be good, man".

Butch...It wasn't a hands on thing...it was just a discussion of gear and systems. Art Cormier, the founder of the Rok Haus, gave the presentation at Pack and Paddle in Lafayette.

I'll definitely be checking those out, probably bookmarking them too. Right now I'm in the middle of moving from the country (dialup- where I am right now) to a large city of 25,000 (broadband - where I will be after this weekend) Soon as I get that higher-speed connect it will be Zydeco Tyme!

I said I would never leave the country and move to town, but at least I ain't going back to Dallas, or even anything as big as Shreveport...

Whitewater - Rockclimbing - Mountain climbing - you're just torturing yourself man!

I'm thinking you'll also need to be taking up Mountain biking, Hang Gliding, and especially Alpine Skiing.

And you'll need a very fuel efficient vehicle.

I don't know about climbing,
but
all this talk about cajun cooking and good spots to enjoy same
are getting me interested in spending a week end down there just
traveling from establishment to establishment.

And, having spent a lot of time in the rural south and now out here west of the Mississippi, I've had many a good meal from the back of a gas station, roadside BBQ stand or butcher paper wrapped "bolonnie" sandwiches off the butcher block from the local butcher!

Zydeco is a plus as well!

Yeah...I'm mountain biking too...don't really have any interest in hang gliding or skiing at the moment.
