NW Chapter Swiftwater Rescue Practice
Posted: Wed Aug 02, 2017 8:11 pm
FREE to everyone that has already took a river rescue clinic or more advanced SWR clinic !
"NW Chapter SWR practice August 10th"
We are excited to announce our first of many Swiftwater Rescue
practice sessions coming to NW Arkansas! When we take a SWR clinic we
learn a tremendous amount of information within one day or two days .
Who here that is reading this has total confidence in all of the SWR
skills they learned? Who here can throw a rope & hit a moving target
at 50ft every time? How long has it been since you've practice your
boat based rescue skills? Contact rescues, swimming rivers, etc....
We plan to help with our chapter members rescue skills by having a practice session every month. And even more important the skills of the people we paddle with day in & day out. How do we become good kayakers, canoeists or stand up paddle boarders? For everyone that is an excellent paddler, how many hours of seat time did you spend paddling before running the last whitewater run? Now ask yourself how many hours have you practiced hanging on to the front of a kayak,
swimming, catching a rope or self rescuing in a river environment like you regularly paddle? We are now going to be having these practice sessions every month as a fun way to help all of us refine our skills, and stay safe when we are out on the rivers.
Our first practice we are going to focus on swimming & boat based rescue.
These practice sessions are meant for people that have already
participated in a L3 or L4 Swiftwater Rescue clinic. These sessions
are not a substitute for getting rescue training.
We will be starting our practice session at 6:30 pm August 10th at
the Siloam Springs Kayak Park. Come on out and bring your helmet,
life jacket, sturdy closed toe shoes, a boat for rescue drills, plenty
of drinking water, your throw rope, and be ready for some fun in the
water.
This Practice is sponsered by the NW Chapter of the Arkansas Canoe Club, If you are a ACA ( American Canoe Acosiation ) Please bring your membership number
