Presentation to Cub Scouts

Post by deenan » Tue May 23, 2017 4:02 pm

I am attaching an e-mail that I got from the Cub Scout leader for Cub Day Camp asking for help from a boater. So I am putting this out there for anyone that can help. Please read the following information and let me know if you can help and I will forward you the attachments that I got to help understand you you will be presenting.

Dee,

As you know, I am the Program Director for Cub Scout Day Camp. Our theme this year is 'All Aboard' and we are concentrating on Travel and Transportation. I am trying to get a speaker about sailing to tie into this theme. While I was talking to him I realized that there is a swimming/boating safety beltloop for each our the ranks. This is something we have never covered in day camp. Thus, I was thinking that it would make a good presentation. Of course, you then came to mind as a great presenter for this topic. Please see below and attached the info for swimming/boating safety in the Cub Scout program.

I would appreciate it if you would consider being a presenter for this information. Day camp is June 12 to 15, at Reservoir Park, 8321 Cantrell Road. Our opening ceremony starts at 8:35 and our first session starts at 8:55. We will do a total of 10 sessions with ±25 boys per session throughout the day. We are anticipating 250 to 300 boys, age 1st to 5th grade. Each session will be 30 minutes. We will do five sessions in the morning and five sessions in the afternoon with five minutes between sessions. There will be one fifteen minute break in the morning and one in the afternoon. Lunch will be between 12:00 and 1:10. The last session will end at 4:10. You will be outside all day, but in a shaded area. My schedule right now is flexible, so if you could let me know what day would be best for you, I should be able to schedule it. We can have tables, electricity, or whatever else you might need to set up. I personally have lots of sizes of kids life jackets. I am sure that we could get a pool pole (reach rescue) and throwable float. If you can not be a presenter, could you think of anyone who could.

I am also attaching the Staff Application to this email. Could you please forward it to all the boys in the Troop. If they can volunteer they need to fill out the forms and return them (either by email or in person). It is important for me to get these forms returned so I know what position the Scouts can help with, what days they are available, t-shirt sizes, and accurate contact info.

Sincerely,
Alex Gangluff
