Winter/Spring 2016/17 Wetland Touring Schedule
Winter/Spring 2016/17 Wetland Touring Schedule
Arkansas Watertrails Partnership.
Hello swampers!! Here it is, the long awaited schedule of paddling trips. I am looking forward to visiting with old paddling companions and meeting new ones. These trips are open to all comers and all skill levels who wish to get outdoors in some beautiful places, see wildlife and ancient trees.
Pay close attention to this schedule. The following list of trips is subject to change due to weather or water levels. If weather is good but water levels are poor, the trip will reroute to a better location. We go in some pretty poor weather conditions but, if it is really too bad, we will cancel or reschedule. I also may be making adjustments to avoid conflicts with other club gatherings or to fine tune it due to some events during hunting season, such as special permit hunts.
A week before each trip occurs I will post a brief description of the trip with meeting times, locations and any other directions. Post general comments or questions on this thread. Post specific questions or comments about the next upcoming trip on that trip thread as it is posted.
November 12 Little Maumelle
November 27 H Lake in the Lower White River Refuge
December 4 Grassy Lake Cancelled to be rescheduled
January 1 2016 Little Maumelle-Happy New Year Red Hot Cider Float
February 18 Maddox Bay Upper Unit of the White River Refuge
March 11 Bayou Deview
April 1 Crooked Lake
June 3 Bayou Deview

Grassy Lake Wetland Tour #3 Cancelled.
The gates at Grassy have been closed, but the lake is filling slowly and is still quite low. We could possibly deal with low water, but the forecast is not so good either. Rainey and 45 degrees on low water doesn't make for a very appealing picture. I will definitely look for a good time to reschedule this one.

I hope we can make at least one of these paddles this year. They sound really interesting. Thanks for putting these together!

DIane,
If you guys get closer to a date, be sure to get in touch with Debbie (or me) and we'll make sure you have info to get in two days of paddling for such a long drive.

Is the Crooked Lakes trip scheduled April 1 still on? Where will the meeting point be?
Re: Winter/Spring 2016/17 Wetland Touring Schedule
The paddle is still on. I will post today. The White River is rising, so it could be an adventure.

How long of a drive is it to Felsenthal and Bayou Review?
Do people usually camp the day ahead of time?
I do not have a kayak rack. Is there a trailer for the kayaks?

I'm a maybe for the 1 April trip. I was there for the cottonmouth snake encounter at Grassy Lake Bayou two weeks ago. I tried to post on the facebook page, but I am not a member of the group.

Anxiously awaiting a 2017/2018 schedule. Is anyone organizing one this year?
