Maddox Bay wetland tour Saturday 3/26/2016

Maddox Bay wetland tour Saturday 3/26/2016.

Maddox Bay is in the north unit of the White River National Wildlife Refuge south of Clarendon. The water levels are good and the forecast is for sunny and 70 degrees. We will meet at the store in Lawrenceville at 10am.

We will be putting in at Sweat's Landing and paddle to Adams Bayou then to Eagles Nest Lake and on through flooded timber to Cut Bluff Slough and back to Maddox Bay.
Part of this trip will require some shallow water bush whacking. Wear muck boots and be prepared for a short portage. See directions to Lawrenceville.

Really looking forward to Saturday. It will be my first change to paddle with ACC. Thank you for the details.

Can you give a bit more information on the location of the rendezvous store? I'm sure there is only 1 or 2 in Lawrenceville but I couldn't find it on the map.

Based on your description I built this map for myself. Does it look about right?

Thia's move to NWA has ended up being this Sunday. So, we'll be packing and spending time together. We had hoped to camp and paddle this week, then she'd move tomorrow, then I'd join y'all on Saturday . . . . Y'all have fun.

Tsudo, your map is correct except for the section between points 2 and 3. We will head in a westerly direction from Eagles Nest Lake in order to stay in deeper water all the way to Cut Bluff Slough.

As you come to Lawrenceville on 146, you will come to a T. Turn right and the store will be on your left. It has a brown roof and sits next to a large boat ramp.

Sorry you can't come Lee. Maybe next time.

We had a beautiful day on Maddox Bay. We met some great landowners who allowed us to put in on their property, saving us a long upstream paddle. Trees were fresh and green with blue sky. Perfect temps and birds singing everywhere. We were able to paddle the whole route with enough water, had lunch on an island and finished up the day pulling out some barrels and styrofoam. With Heather Huckeba, Cowper Chadbourn, Keith Crawford, Don Rottman, Michael Strobel and Mitch Aufderheide.

That sounds like you all a very nice day Debbie, thanks for your report! The weather yesterday was really nice, however I also thought about the previous weekend when you were down in that area attending the meetings, and floating Bayou DeView when it was so cool and windy. Many thanks for your efforts!

Best Regards
Jim
