WHAT'D YA PADDLE IN 2015

Post by Louiscov » Sat Jan 02, 2016 11:51 am

The thread on what we paddled the past year is always great so I'll go first again. PLEASE POST YOURS.
My list is modest as always, but a personal record 25 days paddling, with 16 new streams, giving me 86 streams on my quest for 100. Love the inspiration from everyone posting their trips here. New streams for me in 2015 are in bold:

LOUISIANA: Dorcheat Bayou, Anderson Bayou, Conway Bayou, Cane Bayou, Bayou LaCombe, Bayou Castine, Bayou Sauvage, Bayou St. John, Vermillion River, Cane River, Dugdemona River.

ARKANSAS: Buffalo River, Mulberry River, Spring River, Bear Creek

TEXAS: Neches River

MISSOURI: Indian Creek, Big Sugar Creek, Little Sugar Creek, Elk River

LOOKING FORWARD TO HEARING ABOUT YOURS!! :beer2: HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I started paddling in 2015. My first time in a whitewater kayak was August 4th at the Siloam Springs Kayak Park.

Since then, I've been to the kayak park countless times, I ran Lee Creek, Frog Bayou (at 6 ft I should add), and the Upper Mulberry.

This spring I'm hoping to paddle as many days as I can on as many creeks and rivers as possible.

Too many rivers to list. 127 days paddling 958 miles. Not a record year for me but a great year. Thanks to all who I paddled with . Its companionship that makes great river memories. BOB

I as well really started paddling rivers this year in June.
I have to say, it's the funnest thing I've done in awhile.
I've learned a lot so far through mistakes of course and can't wait for this spring to really hit some more rivers.
My list so far in somewhat of an order from first to last.

East fork white river-2
Illinois river-6
Hogeye run-1
Town branch in Fayetteville-1
War eagle-5
mulberry river-4
Kings river-1
Frog Bayou-2 Ribbit run is my favorite stretch of river so far
West fork white river-2

I've already purchased My girlfriend and I wet suits so were ready to rock and roll and maybe add the buffalo to 2016 list this week.

I didn't keep a log and it was a busy year. I have to guesstimate.

French Broad 9 (NC)
Tuckasegee (Town section, NC)
Indian Creek (MO)
Middle Fork White (ended up paddling it >5x)
War Eagle
Hurricane Creek (Franklin Co)
Wattensaw Bayou
Whiplash & Shoulder Bone on the Tot (finally didn't swim those last two)

Go to Rivers
Mulberry >25x
Frog >15x
Clear >10x
West Fork >10x
Ford >10
Lee >5x
Buffalo >5x
Lake Fort Smith 2x (one moon light paddle)
Eleven Point
Nantahala 2x (NC)
Cossatot (Mentioned above)
Bayou DeView

Sure I am forgetting a few, and holy s&*% for the first time since I have been paddling I didn't get on the Kings

I say, and I intend it emphatically, let the river be.

Yeah KRU I get that about the Kings, not sure what happened there , even working and living in the watershed I never got onto the Kings proper. Guess just to busy chasing the rain around the area. Still have a pretty good list,

Osage Creek ,Carroll county
Buffalo, from Boxley to Pruitt in several different trips
Mulberry over a dozen trips, Wolf pen to Campbells, still need to see the lower Mulb.
Current River, Mo.
Jacks Fork, Mo.
Eleven Point, Mo.
Flat Creek, Barry Co Mo.
Ouachita to Rockport ledge
Saline below Dierks,
Eleven afternoons playing at Fishers Ford, Illinois river
One trip on Big Piney at WAY to high of level
Cadron Creek
San Marcos River, Tx
One Awesome day at Rio Vista Park, Tx.
Spring River, X3
Piney Creek, Carroll Co Ar. Kings tributary
And my personal favorite, Indian Creek Carroll Co. Ar. twice , awaiting another deluge

Overall a really awesome year for us, only missed one weekend between Feb-Dec 31

Never took the time to count days or miles, but I'd conservatively estimate I spent about 50-60 days on the water? Due to illness, though, I only made it out of MO once. Got to hit Nantahala for a raft trip. I'm fortunate to have the opportunity to paddle the Current at least one day most weeks of the year. But I have several Ozark streams nearby. Here's my list in terms of frequency:
1-Current
2-Jack's Fork
3-St. Francis
4-Eleven Point
5-Black
6-North Fork
7-Bryant Creek
8-Nantahala (NC)

Planning a couple trips back to the BWCAW of MN this year and hopefully a trip to London, Ontario to visit a friend who moved back home and maybe visit the Nova Craft factory as a bonus? :crossed:

It was a slow year for me. Had surgery on my rotator cuff, so I did not get on the water until mid August. Hope to make this year one to remember.

Texas - Bosque River, North Bosque River, South Bosque River, Middle Bosque River, Brazos River, Leon River, San Marcos River, Lake Waco, Lake Whitney, Lake Belton

Arkansas - Spring River

Missouri - N Fork White River, Bryant Creek, Eleven Point River

Looking forward to paddling more in Arkansas this year!!

Diane

The usual stuff for me.

I am a Lewis and Clark history big time fan.

Got to paddle the Upper Missouri River Lewis and Clark National River trail up in Montana. A long float and takes outfitter help but really worth the effort. After seeing the Falls of the Missouri, over in Idaho the LoLo trail and the Columbia River gorge plus Astoria, the difficulty of what the Corps of Discovery did is just hard to believe. Fort Benton Montana is the start of the park's river trail and a very interesting place to visit. Hard to believe but a lot of steam boat traffic there from Saint Louis just after Lewis and Clark opened up that part of the world to the US.

Visited many of the Lewis and Clark historical sites on the way up and coming back spent time at the Little Big Horn Battle Site. Which is quite a place to see in person.

I have become a big fan of Montana!!!!!

I logged 71 days on the water.
34 times at the Ford
I didn't count quick trips when I went after work.

17 times on Mulberry
6 times on Frog
2 on Lee Creek
3 on Clear Creek
2 on Buffalo
Bayou DeView
Tot "First Timers"
Dierks
Nantahala
Pigeon
FB9
Tuck Gorge

Not as many as I wanted but not bad for someone who only paddles weekends mostly.
2016 will be a focus on details of paddling.
My Favorite River is the one that I'm paddling.

Cory
