In Search of Large Blow-Log
In Search of Large Blow-Log
I'm looking for a large blow-log for use in January. If anyone has a large one that they would like to donate to Race The Falls 2016, it would be greatly appreciated. Please email me at racethefalls@gmail.com if you can help.

I have a doozie of a log out behind the shop. It will either need a full size truck or trailer to haul to the Tot. But don't worry, I have a tractor to load it with!

Re: In Search of Large Blow-Log
In the last several years our forests have been plagued with some newer pests, like the Asian Longhorned Beetle and Red Oak Borer that have been devastating up in the Ozarks in the last several years as evidenced around Jasper and points South along Hwy 7 several years ago, now the Emerald Ash Borer has put 25 counties in southern Arkansas under quarantine for movement of wood. Many of the private campgrounds, and State and Federal ones also no longer permit firewood brought in from outside that immediate locality. The National Park Service and Arkansas Forestry Commission have more information on these two invasive pests and others currently causing problems. None of the campgrounds on the Spring River, and many in Missouri, like the Current River want firewood to be brought from outside the area. Just saying there may be some advisories or restrictions in place depending on the location.

I know this crimp's some fun but its a very serious issue re: forest health
on a less serious note, I didn't read this topic correctly at first and started to suggest a few names from a few years back on this message board (who I'm sure would have been glad to reciprocate) - glad things are more civilized these days

Re: In Search of Large Blow-Log
Even if importing wood is allowed, it might be a good idea to cleanse the log with a good insect killer......
