Bad strainer on Frog Bayou.....

There is a river wide, unavoidable strainer on the Frog Bayou.
It is about one and a half miles after the put in at Lancaster bridge.
A large tree has fallen off the right river bank and extends the entire width of the river.
There is a pool with a right turn into a sluice.
You can see it from the pool and go to the river left bank for an easy portage.
Beware as there is barbed wire fencing entangled also.
I hope the rains from Bill will wash it out but it is a big tree.
Be careful out there......

Update: The roots have disconnected from the river right bank and at yesterdays "flood" level it was passable on the right. However, any lower will close that door. Be careful it is and will be a nasty spot.

It's still there. @ 3.7 today, there was no going right of it. Good eddy on river left just above the tree. Easy drag around it.-M-

How far above the tree, Mike? Like a couple of feet?
We stopped at the big eddy river left before the drop starts and the drag was like 40 yards. Didn't want to get too close as there was no visible eddy from there, but a shorter portage would've been nice.

@ 3.7 the eddy was within 20 ft or so of the tree. Was able to put back in maybe 20 ft passed the tree , in another good eddy. Big difference on that river between 3.7 and 2.? Ya'll caught it this weekend.

I was actually referring to a float done on June 18th, the day before you and I met on West Cedar Creek for that epic day with that awesome group of paddlers.
I believe it was hovering around 3.7 on the 18th when Grant and I ran Frog.

We may have carried farther. I know I drug mine and came back and helped carry another canoe with no problems. Was definitely an epic day with an awesome group on West Cedar! -M-
