Great 11 Point canoe race (Register by Aug 26, race Sept 26)

The Great Eleven Point River Canoe Race: Just a reminder to everyone that the race will be held on Sept 26, though we need people to try and register by Aug 26 so we can plan ahead. This will benefit the work we are doing to restore the Greer Mill. Race will be from Greer to Riverton (20 miles) and the fun float will be from Whitten to Riverton (8miles). The band, BBQ, beer/soda tent and raffle will start soon after the race at the canoe rental. I hope a lot of you out there will consider joining in. I don't plan on being able to make the race, but I do plan on winning the raffle canoe! My wife and I bought tickets at Eleven Point Canoe Rental this weekend. Floated the river a couple of days too. It was about 1200 cfs, a nice level. More 'obstacles' in the river than I remembered from 10 or 12 years ago. Mostly downed trees and root wads. It's a scenic float, lots of forest covered banks.

Good luck with the fund raiser. We saw the work being done on the Greer Mill already started. We would liked to have seen the inside. Maybe next trip.
