Free Anti-CAFO Sailboat

Post by vandriver630 » Sun Apr 05, 2015 11:31 pm

Dear friends and kind hearted environmentalists,
It is with much regret that I have to give up sailing, especially at this crucial time in the history of the Buffalo River. My goal was to sail as many bodies of water in and around Arkansas for the purpose of bringing to light the danger that the Concentrated Animal Farming Operation near Jasper, Arkansas presents to our first National River.
So here’s an offer: I’d like to give away my 14 foot sailboat (AMF Puffer) to an individual or individuals who share a passion for the Buffalo and have the ability to sail. Last year I sailed on a portion of Greers Ferry Lake with my friend Randall Everett. It was a shake down cruise and the first since I obtained her from a friend, Dovn Neal. She needs a little fiberglass work and maybe some wood work in the cockpit, but is basically good to go. I have all the gear necessary to sail her and all the rigging is either new or in good condition. She comes with title, a trailer with new tires, a 1.5hp two stroke outboard, a brand new cover for storage, life vests, sand anchor and various marine parts. AND the most important thing of all: Two sails (main and jib) painted with the messages “Save The Buffalo Again” and “USA First River”. Since the 2013 photo below, I've freshened up and eliminated the bleeding-through from the opposite side of each sail. Better contrast and hopefully seen from afar.
I’d like to give her to a good home that will exercise her often. If you’re a member of any environmentally related organization which believes in conservation, education and recreation, you stand a better chance of becoming the next owner.
Let me know if you’re interested. It’s Springtime!

I have experience sailing a 20' and 30' sailboat that my father in law owns. I'd love to cruise this beauty on Beaver Lake, and would even be glad to just keep it on my property for other ACC members to use at their leisure!

I should mention that I work with the Beaver Watershed Alliance and the Mulberry River Society.

I took a sailing course in college. Next to kayaking, there is no better feeling out on the water than in a sailboat.
