Tyler Bend Camping (weekends)

Post by nathan richard » Fri Mar 20, 2015 9:41 am

How hard is it to get a couple tent sites at Tyler Bend in the spring time?
Is it comparable to the upper campgrounds (when the river is floatable) where if you don't get there by 4pm on friday you're out of luck? wanting to go over there next month and will need two spots.

Don't have the beta on Tyler Bend, been there twice during the summer and both times I got a spot.

You can always use Shine Eye or Baker Ford as a backup.

I say, and I intend it emphatically, let the river be.

It can be prettty tough when there's nice weather and water simultaneously. If you arrive Friday afternoon you should be okay, but I saw a fight over a campsite at Tyler Bend last spring; well, it would have been a fight but for the guy's buddies and the other guy's class. Why yes, there was alcyhol involved. Pretty crazy and a good story for another time lest I digress further. That same weekend I tried to dissuade a gentleman (and I use the term loosely) from settting up his camper in an unofficial spot at the end of a row of official spots. He had a nice fire going about the time the ranger arrived. It did not go well for him.
You come too.
