Hello all. I'm trying to figure out when to make the trip to the recently built ww park. At what level(s) would you think it would be worth it to drive 8.5 hrs to the park?

I am only capable of surfing, flat spinning, and attempting a few weak loops. The friend whom I boat with is capable of surfing, flat spinning, looping, and cartwheeling. I also love to sup surf the badfish river surfer.

Any info/opinions on what we can potentially expect would be great.

Ray- I don't know what you have to paddle close to you , but if you're driving 8 hours to the ford , you will likely be disappointed no matter what the levels. That being said. Around 3 ft. On the Guage is perfect. We were there yesterday, @2.6 and it was hard to get a good surf, as the top wave was glassy. Above 3.7 on the Guage, it's blown out and not fun either. So my rule of thumb is 2.7 to 3.7=FUN!-M- :myday"

I'd say from 3 ft to 4 ft would be a nice juicy level for the ford. I agree with Mike it's good all the way down to 2.7 yet I've seen the old gauge that we have out there say one thing ( like 2.6 ) , then when I get there it looks more like summer river levels at 1.9. Yet if the gauge is listing it at 3.5 it's usally a great level to play . Hope to see you there

Thanks for the replies, good info to know. Everything is solid or not high enough up here in NE IA and further north, so south is the best option without driving several additional hours to get to the SE. And the pool just doesn't have moving water. I will have to see if I can make it down sometime this winter.
