looking for somewhere to float

Post by shawn6882 » Thu Oct 02, 2014 11:31 am

I have a sizable group going to float the buffalo river Oct 11, we were going to go to ponca to Kyle's but it's to low. Any suggestions on a good place to float for one day? I've researched buffalo point to rush but havnt ever been on that side of the river

Of course anything is possible when it comes to Arkansas weather, but October is typically a pretty dry month (I may have just guaranteed you rain by committing that to writing). You can scrape down pretty much anywhere below Dillard's Ferry (HWY 14) all year. For a day float under low water conditions Dillard's Ferry to Rush would probably be your best bet. Pretty good scenery and very good fishing. Depending on where you're coming from you might want to consider as potential alternatives the Eleven Point, Current or Spring (in that order IMO). All three are spring fed and dependable. If it's Buffy or bust I'd plan on the aforementioned reach and pray for rain to change that plan.
You come too.
