Nanty the Weekend After Labor Day

Post by Crane » Wed Jul 30, 2014 10:20 am

Several rafters and kayakers are heading east to the Nantahala on the Thursday evening after Labor Day. We plan to row/paddle the Nanty on Friday (about 1:00 pm) and Saturday, and have the option of rowing/paddling Sunday before heading home. If you think this is a trip you might want to make, please get in touch! Crane

Hello Cranes,
I am very interested in the trip. What are the dates? Do you have a crew of people already? Hotel or camping, etc... :kayak:

What skill level of paddler are y'all comfortable with coming along? I have run it in a ducky, but am just starting out with my creekboat.

Our dates are that we will leave Thursday evening, Sept 4, and drive the other side of Nashville. That will put us at the put-in on the Nanty by about 1:00 pm on Friday. We will row/paddle Friday and Saturday and reserve the option to do the same on Sunday before heading back to Arkansas. As to skill levels, if you've been on the Nanty and know what you're in for, you probably would be alright. However, we will have mostly rafts being rowed, with an IK or two, and probably would not be much help if a swimmer got in the water and a boat or two strewn down the river... We plan to stay at a B&B near Bryson City... but, could schedule meet-up times if someone stayed elsewhere. Crane
