Ford this afternoon? (June 2014)

Post by Mike_P » Wed Jun 25, 2014 11:43 am

Thinking about hitting the Ford mid-to-late afternoon today depending on the weather. Anybody else going? Reply or shoot me a p.m.

Did you ever go. I was out there about 5pm when they closed it. With the flood warnings, they decided to pull the toilets and garbage cans [same as earlier this week] and lock the gate. I'll Email in the morning to see when/if they plan to open tomorrow. If there is more rain/flooding forecast, it may be delayed.

Chaz.

Yes I was there at that time. The officer that was there was extremely nice and engaging. I had gotten there about 4p but waited in the parking lot for the weather to pass & spoke to him for a while. All the tubers cleared out when it started raining. The city guy that was moving the port-a-johns and the officer asked me to move my vehicle about 4:45 stating they were closing the gates. They suggested I park just outside the entrance gate (as opposed to the construction gate) but had no issue with me hiking back through the park to paddle (they just wanted to clear the lot). Two other kayakers showed up and we paddled together for a while. Had the whole place to ourselves!

Nice. I like those type of days. Being 4 miles away, I've experienced that many times. :)

New Siloam Springs [Ark] Whitewater Park - which will always be the "Ford" [Fisher Ford falls] in my mind.

Just missed you! Took out around 4pm. Surfed upper and lower in my new Jitsu 6.0. It was righteous.
