Take back 'Da Ford

If you clicked on this thread then you know what 'Da Ford means.....
I have stayed off the discussions of recent occurrences at the park due to my personal connection with the park.
In the most respectful way I can I would like to propose an event at 'Da Ford.
I believe the best way to show how the site was meant to be used is to show in numbers and conduct ourselves in a manner that will shine a good light on both the paddling community and the ACC.
Since we all planned to be there anyway, why not show up and paddle.
Lead by example.
Let's go and have a good, safe time.
Here is what I am proposing and would like to see happen.
Saturday the 28th, 10 am. till ?
I am going to show up with FREE grilled cheese and cokes for all.
What I would like to see from others (and I am open to suggestions)
1. a table with examples of floating gear.
Shoes, PFD, throw ropes, helmets etc. I think we can limit it to summer gear.
Let's start a discussion about these items.
2. Everybody show with throw ropes and in between surfs we can just watch over
anyone in the water. We are NOT life guards but since we are there anyway......
3. Engage the public in a friendly way about the safety necessary in the park.
I am going to bring some extra boats/gear with me. If I meet a new friend in the park that
would like to try some of my stuff, I may take them out to try the calm waters above the waves.
I will be doing this as a friend, not as a sanctioned instructor.
This will not be a ACC or ACA sanctioned event.
This is just a gathering of like minded people who see a need.
I will be there regardless of others participation.
I started to recede into a hole.
I have to thank my life long friend Dan Daniels for the support over the last week.
He made me realize that this was the time to advance, not retreat......
Love ya Dan..........
