Finally got the inflatable out on the water this past few weeks.

Do the mesh bag/trash containment laws cover SUPs?

Is there any ACC SUP specific training available?

And which venues are particularly suited or not suited for SUP? Is it decidedly a flatwater, Class I & Class II thing?

The release at Malvern seems like it would be pretty mild. What about Dragover?

Have seen several SUP's at Malvern in past couple years. They had a SUP class at WW school earlier this month. Not sure about Dragover. It would probably be doable at levels toward the low end of floatable.

Yes, the mesh bag laws would apply. " A person entering, traveling upon, or otherwise using Arkansas' navigable waterways by canoe, kayak, inner tube, or other vessel easily susceptible to swamping, tipping, rolling, or otherwise discharging its contents into a waterway, and transporting foodstuffs or beverages shall:... blah blah blah."

My only suggestion would be to get a mesh bag and carefully, compactly, roll it into a neat little parcel, tape or rubber band it, and attach to the board somewhere. It's pretty obvious the boys in your picture don't have any food or drink, and probably no trash of any sort, but I would still maybe find one of the smaller mesh bags that had the Game&Fish, State Parks Logos on them and compact it to something about the size of a wallet and secure to the boat where it wouldn't flop around like a loose one. Probably would never need it for anything except someone else's trash
but it might save any problems not having one could pose.

The SUP class at WW school was great! My son took the class. As a kayaker and Dad I like SUP for flat water and easier whitewater (class 1-2) with enough water to prevent catching the fins in the shoals but there are folks really pushing the envelope as you might expect.

With regard to the sturdy container law wouldn't avdry bag suffice? As I read the attachment that is a sturdy container certainly adequate to carry trash. I've never carried mesh bags in addition to a dry bags. Thoughts?

I would think any kind of mesh bag would be OK. I have collected various ones, from those that enclose small bits of ww equipment I've purchased, to those enclosing small bags of shallots purchased at Whole Foods, to mesh bags sized for a hundred weight of potatoes, all are good bags structurally. My favorite bags for the kayak are the yellow ones issued several years ago that were about 1.25ft. X 2.50ft. or so in dimension, and had the ARGF and Ar. State Parks Logo imprinted on them.( I especially liked that, and always mentioned the official nature of those logos to anyone who is interested) I don't think the regulations are very specific on the details of the bag , but if they need to be, then maybe it should be mentioned in the regulations, so it would be less of a variable in case asked asked for. Thus far, everyone I paddle with is careful to collect and dispose of any trash they my generate, or pick up from others leaving behind, and thus far the authorities that try and ensure this is being done are just glad the effort is being made and haven't been too picky about the container. Until the specifics of the containers are as clear-cut as a valid, current, drivers license or fishing license though, I will be carrying a mesh bag.
