Ouachita River (Remmel to Rockport)

I am going paddling with a group of mixed-level canoers, but mostly those that have never paddled or haven't done so in 20+ years. We are going to try the Ouachita River below Remmel Dam the morning/afternoon of April 27. When we planned this we were definitely expecting much more warmer temps leading up to the float, but since the releases are so low, thinking we'll be okay if we're careful about staying in our boats and dressing in layers if the air is still chilly.

My question is how long we might expect this float to take given lower water levels. We will stop for lunch and as needed, but curious how much paddling time we should expect/plan for at a leisurely pace.

Thanks!
Susan

Many variable can effect this, but as a general rule, I plan for 1 hour paddling time for every 2 miles of river when leading recreational paddlers.

This section at a leisurely pace with a lunch stop will probably take about 2.5-3 hrs. At low flow it might take 3.5 depending on how leisurely y'all are.
