During the searches for a missing boat on the East Fork of the Little Buffalo, which I hadn't been on in a few years, I ran across two hazards that I feel are worth mentioning to the boating community:
1) Somewhere shortly downstream of the Swinging Bridge, there is a new log blocking one of the channels. I saw it only at a very low level, and it appeared you could possibly duck under, but at normal floating levels I think this would not be an option. At high levels, there may be an option to use another channel or simply go over the log. Bottom line, I don't know, so just "heads up" and be careful as you would on any creek run.
2) Just downstream of the normal takeout near the Murray Community Center, there was a barbed wire fence with at least two strands stretched across the river. I saw it in time to easily duck under. But this was at a level when you would NOT be floating the usual EFLB run, so the concern is that at "normal" floating levels, anyone who elected a lower takeout or to continue downriver could encounter something that comes up fast and could NOT be just ducked under. Someone higher (think canoe), poor weather such as rain, or just someone who wears glasses that have become fogged or have water droplets on them could easily have more trouble than I did. This is also a stretch of river that someone not yet ready for the upper EFLB run might try to float.
Location was at N35.9166 W93.3198 (estimated, I didn't stop to get out the GPS for an exact fix)
