Grand Opening of the new WW park - CANCELED

Post by paddledog » Mon Mar 31, 2014 5:56 am

The spring is always SO full of activities.
Everyone wants to get out of the cabin and play.
BUT this is one day you should circle on your calender and make happen.

MAY 10, 2014 is a day that will live in infamy..........

OK, maybe that is a bit dramatic....
but it will be a great day in NWA paddling...
The grand opening of the WW park formally known as Fisher's Ford.

Stay tuned to this thread to see the activities develop.
The NWA chapter of the ACC will use this event as their membership drive this year.
I will be taking suggestions at tonight's meeting for activities.
This is gonna be great....

Pretty excited, I'll be coming up and bringing out some friends that are undecided on taking up kayaking :) Hoping for a good level that weekend and nice weather. :kayak:

Thanks for the reply about the kayak demos being held at fishers ford. Can anyone come for that day in June? I haven't ever ww kayaked but would like to try taking it up, but wasn't sure if they would let anyone demo. Seems like a day I could definitely learn a little tho.

Thanks paddle dog for the help and information

Yes, everyone is not only invited but encouraged to attend.
In fact, new folks is why we are doing what we are doing.
We will get you signed up, dressed up, and outfitted with boat and gear.
Then we will send you out on the river with a trained instructor and safety
personal.
Stay tuned for more info. I will be writing a longer explanation soon.
Thanks for your interest,

LOTS......Gonna be a big day with demo boats SUP's and plenty to do.
I will post a complete schedule when completed.
Plan on spending the whole day. There will be food and drink provided by the city.
I will be hosting camping at my house for both Fri. and Sat as the park closes at dark.
It is about 25 min. from the Ford.

The short answer Yes.
Right now I am working on the Fish Fry for WW school.
Give me a day or so and I will produce a write up on the plans.
There will be things we all can do to help it be the best day
to kick off the park.
Stay tuned....

The powers that be have moved "Media Day" AKA the soft opening
of the new WW park to June 2, Monday. No real ceremony or nuttin'.
But the media should be there and anyone who can turn out to
show our support of the park would probably be interviewed......
10 am to noon.......

If you know of vendors who would like to participate in the event, they can contact Holland Hayden at the City of Siloam Springs at 479-238-0927 or hhayden@siloamsprings.com
Looking forward to a GREAT event.

So is there still a 'Grand' opening the 28th, separate from the 'soft' [Media Day] opening?
