Looking for used canoe for work

Post by Hopefull » Thu Mar 27, 2014 1:56 pm

I am the park ranger in North Little Rock, Burns Park and I am looking for a used canoe for work. We are in the process of developing an new canoe/kayak launch on White Oak Bayou in the park and I will need a boat for work in this area. We can spend up to $300 for a good used boat. I know that is pretty low but what the heck, figured I would see what was available or if anyone wanted to make us a deal to help the cause. Thanks

You may be able to find something to suit your needs on Craigslist. SearchTempest allows you to set a search radius from your zip code as well as your search terms... It then searches all the craigslists in that radius.

http://www.searchtempest.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I've used it to find a $300 canoe in Nashville that I then drove over to purchase.

Good luck!

My canoe partner has a 17' fiberglass Mohawk canoe for sale for $250. It is in good shape, ready to go, stored on a rack under cover, clean with no holes, although the gel coat has been patched with some Kevlar felt. Aluminum gunnels and seats, so fairly bomb-proof and weather proof. Color is red, but faded. Boat is stable, but fast.

Hopefull, given where you'll be using it and how it will likely be treated I'd suggest going with an aluminum canoe. They don't care where or how you store them and they're generally pretty easy to fix. Should be able to find one in your price range pretty easily too.
You come too.

Thanks for the help all. I found a really good deal on an Old Town that will suit our needs perfectly.
