does it have to be on the the gravel bar? I was looking at the regs, and it sounded like they wanted campers to stay close to the campgrounds.

On river left approx. 2.2 miles above Kyles, there's a super-sweet spot for a 2-person camp on a small point overlooking a series of small waterfalls coming down from Bear Cave Hollow. Pull in where the side creek comes in. You'll see the tread leading up to the point on the upstream side of the creek. Explore 'til your heart's content!
