gauges

strange glitch on the gauge for caddo friday. lost about 1.25'. hmmm!

Good catch! The USGS may have reset the gauge to agree with the pre-July 2013 values.
I've sent them an email to ask; I'll let you know what they say.

USGS sent the following reply:

Yesterday afternoon we did move the gage to it's original location. The channel has shifted back due to these events over the last year. We are putting discharge back on the web and the statement will be updated Monday to reflect these changes.

As it turns out, they didn't even wait until Monday to update the statement. It now reads:
DATUM CHANGE: The channel has moved to its original locations. The datum has been adjusted for this change and corrections to the datum are no longer needed.

I noticed that American Whitewater is again posting levels on the Caddo River. I'm glad to see it back. I missed it. BOB

Thanks Cowper for checking on this, and reporting back! I am still looking forward to getting back out there for some fun floats after this cold winter! In previous years, we had determined anything below 5.50ft. was getting pretty bony on that Caddo Gap to Glenwood section. We most enjoyed those trips when the river was in the 6.3-6.5 ft. range and above, up to about 7- 7.5ft before things washed-out.

Me too Mr. JIm. It's been a long cold winter and I had a great time on one Caddo float in particular last year.
