Hurricane Creek Video

This is upper Hurricane Creek that runs into Shores Lake near the Mulberry. It has a near continuous gradient in the first half of the 9 mile run, with some nice ledges and a bunch of holes and big waves. There are numerous rapids that keep popping up around every turn and horizon line.

As far as we know, we were the first to run this section last year at lower water. It was a good high water day for our second run, but it was cold and snowed during the last half. The video is only of the first half of the creek.

Please post if you know of someone else running this section previous to us.

Best part for me was that the take out was 10 minutes from the house!

Thanks for the work on the video and for posting it to share.

I think I might have been at that particular RRE show at Waka!

It was a fun day on Hurricane. I agree Dave,
It's nice to have that cool of a run so close to
home! Thanks Rob for editing & posting. I'll
definitely be doing that run again! And thanks
to Brent for the Go-Pro work. Bring on some
more rain!

I'm glad you all went back and got the chainsaw to cut the tree out of the road, couldn't have made it otherwise. That was a good show at Waka. Here is the show, free to download https://archive.org/search.php?query=Ra ... 20mulberry" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Good to hear. How do you gauge the creek?

By what the usgs says hurricane is below shores lake or by the mulberry . It is hit and miss above shores lake he water rises and drops so fast. I usually do a drive by and look for myself.

Judging by the video, what level does that correlate to your gauge?

It impressed me that Upper Hurricane was at a good high level but Spirits Creek and Little Mill Creek were on the low side. That's good to know since they are all so close together - if Little Mill is low, you might get a good run on Upper Hurricane. It's definitely worth the trip.

Hcarr999,

Since you hail from Alma and have a Carr in your handle, can we assume Dad or Grandad is one Sam Carr?
