SF green truck and scooter

Post by hilbili » Mon Feb 03, 2014 7:47 pm

I often see the green truck and scooter at south fourche. Does any one know this person/a member here? I am interested in this run, and would like to discuss it and possible trip.

You specifically said green truck, which makes it seems like you mean a green truck...but if by any chance you meant green van instead of truck, then I might know who it is. But if it's a truck, not a van, then no clue. And purple scooter.

memory? Seen often in hot springs also, with scooter on front bumper - not sure now that its been awhile. just seems like it was a truck with ladder rack.

Well, green van with racks and purple scooter would be ChicagoBob.

Green truck...unknown. Bob's in HSV, so that might be your guy (and van, not truck!).

You need to hit it when Bear Creek and Trace creek are high enough to float, maybe even take out of Bear on 86.

You can take out at Rocky crossing, bought a two hour float or about 1 hour farther down at Deberrie Low water bridge, which is just east of Wallace bridge by about 3 miles.

Who was at the park at SF this past, sat, 2/22/14 ? I saw a small truck with a rack and a car, water was low for boating, I was out hiking/exploring.

Yes it was my van, scooter and canoe. I was able to paddle the South Fourche 11 times last year. I live in Hot Springs Village and it's the closest river to my house. About 35 minuets out the door to the put-in. The river is very scenic with some mildly challenging whitewater. The shuttle is long but easy. Trace and Bear Creeks are tributaries that are small and fast and fun when the waters up. I often run all of these without posting so if you want to go call me or post here. BOB

Glad to hear you got in another day of floating on SF there Bob. I may be out hiking some time and see you/ yall floating. I like to hike down to blockhead and other places over there at times as well as bear and trace creeks. I mostly hike now but I used to canoe in Dagger encore and sometimes with family I drag out my raft. As you stated SF is a fun and scenic intermediate float.

SF looked to be at a good float level today 3/8/ 14.
I did not float but Hiked instead to a nice spot about .6 miles above and down stream from "blockhead" and waited for boaters but none showed up. Here is a pic from up on a ridge top over blockhead.
