Race from Byrd's to Turner Bend on the Mulberry River starts at 1PM March 9th. Register by 11 AM. $20 entry includes t-shirt. Rental boats available from Turner Bend($40). Men's, Women's, Mixed Tandem, Geezer Tandem, kayak, and slackers(not competing but paddling). Categories are mass started with 1 minute intervals for each category. Plastic Rec canoes, no bent shaft or double bladed paddles for canoes. Fiddle music and party afterwards at Turner Bend take out. If River is over 4.4 feet the race will be rescheduled for March 16th. Brad usually needs a few volunteers also!

I spoke briefly with Brad today. The Turner Bend crew are excited about this years race and are hoping for a great turnout. We (the River Medic Team) will be providing safety/medical boats along the route. We will try to position ourselves strategically along the route where we think people may need help. We will also be available via radio. This should be a great event and we are looking forward to being a part of it. Remember to dress accordingly. This has been a very frigid winter and it may still be quite cold in early March. Have fun, paddle hard, be safe. -Barry D Thomas

The Mulberry is at 1.66 (USGS Gauge) today. Let's hope we get some good thawing of this snow and ice before the weekend. Chance of rain later in the week as well. Hopefully the water will rise at least an inch before Sunday! We plan on being there no matter what. :kayak:

The river is starting to come up a little and rain is in the forecast for tomorrow. We may have good water for the race on Sunday! :kayak:
