Canoe Found with all my gear

Post by Chicago Bob » Fri Nov 29, 2013 9:24 pm

I'll also list this in a separate listing but my canoe has been found and returned. On todays Caddo river Black Friday clean-up, one of the locale outfitters came down the glen wood access to see if anyone needed a shuttle. Wes said that we didn't but that we were doing a river clean-up and looking for a stolen canoe. The outfitter said that several people had reported seeing a canoe that they thought might be his across the river from the Glenwood access. Cowper, and Mike from Saline Canoe rentals paddled across and sure enough came up with not only my canoe but also the paddle, P.F.D. the painters and the lock and cable. I live a charmed life and have unbelievable friends. Thanks to everyone who expressed their concern. A special thanks to Cowper and Debo who made a trip down the Caddo just to look for my boat. BOB

I guess the thieves weren't REALLY thieves, but just borrowed it for a ride down river and forgot to put it back.

Happy for you, Bob!

This is excellent news Bob!! I know you still must wonder how the heck it got over there, but finding everything just trumps it all!

About twenty years ago, I forgot and left my 'shuttle bicycle' sitting underneath the Collier Creek bridge just above Caddo Gap. When I returned the next week to float, I asked my companions to humor me for a moment while I went to see if the bike was still there. Sure enough, there was a whole family sitting there fishing, and the bike leaned-up against a pier where I'd left it. :D

On another note, I can see by Cowper's pictures, you guys really did well with the trash removal yesterday. You all have my thanks and admiration!

Best Regards
Jim

I guess actually COMPLETING this theft just became too much work for the dumb*sses who paddled it down the river. Lucky they didn't wrap it.

Since the boat was'nt wrapped it sounds like they did'nt drown in an unfortunate accident so they are still there. :problem:
I see you recovered your cable and lock, was it cut or did you feel like it was'nt needed?
I have cable locks but seldom use them,I think they will get more use now.
