The River Valley Chapter will have our annual Christmas Party on Dec 7th this year! Mike and Bonnie(Johnson) Smets have agreed to host this year and that has met with Ron Robbins approval (we have discussed maybe alternating between the two sites each year, as I know how much work and expense goes into hosting this event and I truly appreciate the generosity of our host!). The club has provided brisket in the past with the rest being potluck. We'll start gathering around 6PM and try to start eating no later than 7PM. Afterwards we will have our traditional dirty Santa gift exchange so bring a gift if want in! Then, after that, we will elect a NEW President. I am currently working on some musical entertainment options. For those who may not have been here before the facility is indoors in a metal building with some heat but can still be cold if it is freezing outside. The property backs up to the Frog Bayou and has a pavilion with a fire place that some of us usually end up hanging around later in the night. You are welcome to bring adult beverages and I will be bring an assortment of sodas for my potluck contribution. This is certainly a family event (kids welcome, dogs not so much)! We also welcome ACC members from outside of the River Valley Chapter and always enjoy visitors from other chapters.
Directions: The farm is on highway 282 between Rudy and Van Buren. From Van Buren, take Hwy 64 and turn left on Hwy 282 for 5.1 miles and it is on the right. From Rudy follow 282 for 1.7 miles from the Railroad tracks, just before the Frog bridge, and it is on the left. I will have the banner up by the road.

Re: River Valley Chapter Christmas Party - Dec 7
Thanks Steve! Sounds like this will be a great time! Thanks to Mike and Bonnie for hosting! Great place.
This will be our 19th Annual RV Chapter Christmas party. First Christmas party, following RV Chapter reorganization, was in 1995. :myday"
Who can tell me who our first performer was back in 1995?
Who can tell me who our performer was last year in 2012?
Oreo Blue will be a great band for continuing a fine musical party tradition. Our Dirty Santa exchange is epic!
And, for all you pancake eating Canoe School participants, thanks for helping us throw a party each Christmas!

Mas Agua last year! No clue on the first party...most of us aren't old enough to know.....or maybe we are too old to remember! Again, we want to extend the invitation to all chapters! This band is worth the trip and maybe the Frog will be running!!!
Re: River Valley Chapter Christmas Party - Dec 7
No guesses for 1995,,,,, well, it was Chris Cameron, and he was still a teenager! Rocked out on some Clapton, Hendrix and Muddy Waters!
Looking forward to another big Christmas Party and throw down with the RV gang! Should be fun.
Oreo Blue will continue this fine party tradition.
Thanks Steve for your leadership the last couple of years. You done good and deserve a break!
Hope someone will step up to lead our chapter for the next couple of years. Everyone needs some time at the tiller!

Due to the weather and road conditions, we are canceling the River Valley Christmas party. I feel any attempt to reschedule at this busy time of year would be fuftile, but am open to any ideas that you may have. The band is letting us off the hook and offering to reschedule, but I'm not sure if we can come up with a location. A decision will be made next week. I am willing to come to anyone's house and discuss it, if you have heat and electricity because we don't!
