It's been about 30 years since I last enjoyed any success at catching more than one or two fish in a day. I had a field day hauling in about 5 or more species on a pier in FL. A year later, I yanked a mess of little trout out of a narrow stream in the Japanese Alps. Since then, it's been . . . nothing. I quit even trying for many years. But, I'm giving it the ol' college try now like never before. BUT, I still am only guessing at what I'm doing and hoping for pure luck . . . and not getting it.

With that said, if anyone would be willing to let me tag along on any little stream or lake float fishing outing and mentor me a bit, I might become a convert to the sport and be forever in your debt.

p.s. I pay my debts with chocolate, beer, or pizza. Beyond that, post a pic and state your marital status.

This is a great time to be out and about on our moving water fisheries. Watch for Buffalo floats, especially the ones that include the water betwixt Buffalo Point and Rush. Yes, it's barely one step above flat water, but a spinning rig and a paper sack full of green pumpkin tubes and jig heads will get you all the fun you can stand. I've heard the upper and middle sections are better for quantity and the lower section is better for quality and that has proven true in my experience. There are plenty of other lures that will produce too, but it's hard to beat the tube for cost and convenience and it will work just about anywhere there are smallies. If you want to fish the Caddo or Ouachita Mr. Jim Krueger is your man. Just ask Edgar.

You're welcome to come with me on one of my wade-fishing/canoe trips. I'm usually going after the smallmouths.

But seriously, if you can get Billy Williams to take you along then you got the guy who is instructing me!!

Wow, thanks for the invite! It's bedtime on Halloween and I'm just seeing it. I'm planning to be in the Ozarks this weekend, but if anything changes, I'm looking to fish. I'll remember to check the board this time.
