Not into Big White Water? Try DRAGOVER!

Post by Sky Heye » Wed Oct 16, 2013 10:43 pm

The rivers in the S.W. & West Central Ark. are up. But if class 3 and above is not your thing, take a look at Dragover, west of Mt. Ida. By Friday it will drop down into the sweet range for a great float with a little bit of class 2. Look for C.F.S. under 1500, but above 750.
But now the great thing about Dragover: you shuttle your self! As you come into the park, take the right fork and drop your gear at the little park. Then drive back to the junction and take the other fork down to the river. It's about a 5 minute walk over the hill back to the start. The dragover! You are now ready for a 3 mile float of class 1 and 2 water. When your done, run the boat back to the start and do it again!

I'd be headed there this weekend, but I'm headed out of state. Dagnabit!
Give it a go if you want a great day of easy play water.

I have put in,run it,walked my shuttle, loaded and hauled my boat back to the put in in less than hour.I knew before I got on that it was too high to do alone but I was there by myself and I wanted to paddle.
Everything was washed out that day so it was just a straight down the river and try not to swim to Lake Ouchita day.
It was fun in a way but I do'nt really want to do it again at that level.
I have a new boat that needs a few more scuffs, that may be good place to try it out Saturday if I do'nt have to work.
If it looks like a go Saturday post here or P.M. me.
