Hi Folks,
We are offering our 20 hour Wilderness First Aid program Nov. 9-10 in Fayetteville at the Lake Fayetteville Environmental Center. This will probably be our last open enrollment WFA course of the year. The program is Saturday morning through Sunday afternoon. To maintain the quality of instruction, we cap our programs at 16 participants with two nationally certified WFA instructors.

For those of you who have never taken our WFA course, this is the time to do it! Our nationally accredited program is unique in that there is far less time spent sitting in class and far more time actually learning hands on skills than is offered by any other provider. We have been offering this program since 2006 and it is highly likely that someone you paddle with has been through our courses! We utilize time tested methods of experiential teaching that gives the participant the opportunity to actually practice all the techniques as well as great criteria to make decisions about when outside help is needed.
All day Saturday is spent learning to recognize and care for many different injuries and basic trauma management skills, as well as how to deal effectively with environmental risks. Saturday evening we do more field scenarios with additional challenges for you to solve. Sunday is spent on improvisational methods and learning to manage medical issues and other hazards, as well as wound cleaning and field closure methods. Significant focus is placed on lifesaving skills and proven techniques for people who find themselves having to administer care in austere environments. Do be aware that we use moulage and props for our evening scenario work, you will be exposed to very realistic situations. This really helps when you find yourself in a "for real" event, as it is then easier to provide good quality care.
Upon successful completion of the program, you will receive nationally recognized certification that meets the needs for many outdoor jobs ( and meets the requirements for ACA instructors). The program also meets the requirements for BSA leaders.
The cost of the course is 125.00 which includes all materials and textbook
