Memphis according to his Craigslist ad.
Re: Canoes for sale
That's good news for me, because I think that Viper would be a good next step from my Sunburst, but if I brought another boat home right now..............Canoe_Codger wrote:Memphis according to his Craigslist ad.

You could always drive a little further and drop off the Sunburst at my house! I am right off I-40!

It is red, and it's been in the family for a while. Used to belong to my hero, Dave "Okieboater" Reid. He passed it down to my buddy Doug Webber who lives less than a mile from me. Doug handed it off to me earlier this year. Why don't you pick up that Viper on the way here for a float trip, and when you head back home you can leave it and take the Sunburst.Canoe_Codger wrote:You could always drive a little further and drop off the Sunburst at my house! Re: Canoes for sale
Tempting. Mighty tempting. But there is the distinct possibility of this old man hurting himself in the Viper before the trade is consumated. Heck, I'd take the Blue Hole in Memphis except it is maroon. And as any real RBF member knows, a maroon canoe is one that wanted to be red but couldn't quite manage it. Not that there is anything wrong with that, just saying...Deuce wrote: It is red, and it's been in the family for a while. Used to belong to my hero, Dave "Okieboater" Reid. Srsly though, I might be in the market for an old Sunbright Blue Hole (OCA, Sunburst, etc.) in the near future.

It's just as well. If I tried to let go of the Sunburst it would be like a scene from Hoarders.

Yeah, but it wouldn't be near as ugly a scene as it would be if you tried to part with that purple Mad River.
A small fair weather tornado would appear and cause massive devastation, destruction and near loss of life injuries on all parties involved.

Luke: that moving from a Sunburst to a Viper would be like going from a Suburban to a Shelby Cobra. I know because I went from a Sunburst to an Outrage. Swam a lot for a while. You have been warned.
Re: Canoes for sale
All academic anyway. I truly could not bring home another canoe right now without some serious splainin'. I plan to keep the Sunburst for a solo tripper but would like to step it up at some point. Just have to tread carefully.Tim Eubanks wrote:Luke: that moving from a Sunburst to a Viper would be like going from a Suburban to a Shelby Cobra. I know because I went from a Sunburst to an Outrage. Re: Canoes for sale
You could always tow the Sunburst behind the Viper as a safe place to rest and recover!
I understand the thing about pleasing the SWMBO. I was married for more than a quarter century. I am now a single old man and I only have to please Jake, my bow-wow-man. He thinks it is interesting when he smells another dog on me. He is always glad to see me even if I come home late. And he loves riding in any one of my three red canoes.![Thumbup ](./images/smilies/icon_thumbup.gif)

So true Mr. Crawford. So true. Do not mess with little Deuce. Yes , the canoes can be seen on Craigs List in Memphis .They both still have plenty of life left in them . The Blue Hole is in really good shape for a 30 yr old boat. They just don't make the ABS canoes like they did when they first started . Seems like they have gone backwards in their quality . I have an old Perception Nantahala canoe that just will not die either
